See movies at their wide-screen original best. The Toshiba TW40X81 is designed for letterboxed DVDs, VHS tapes, and satellite broadcasts, eliminating the black bars that appear on the top and bottom of the screen.The Toshiba TW40X81's TheaterBright screen is tinted for increased contrast and uses a surface layer diffuser, which concentrates the tinting on a thinner layer of the surface of the screen. The result is a high-resolution, high-brightness screen with a wide 160-degree viewing angle for use in any room. A digital comb filter converts the analog signal into a digital signal for more accurate processing, virtually eliminating dot crawl or cross-color interference for a superior picture. Dynamic quadruple focus ensures that even the edges and corners also have a precise beam spot for a sharp, uniform picture from corner to corner.Audio enhancements include surround sound, as well as a multichannel television sound decoder, which enables the television to accept and decode broadcast stereo.
